CROSS COUNTRY: Bailey, Snowden lead varsity girls at Kenston

The Comets girls cross country team finished fourth of 18 teams Saturday at the Kenston Invitational.

Juniors Kalyn Potyrala and Leah Johnson led the Amherst varsity on the rolling course, running 20:35 and 20:39 to finish 14th and 16th overall.

They were followed by Victoria Bailey (20th, 20:52), Kayla Snowden (27th, 21:14), Rachel Lasso (45th, 22:12), Camryn Leonard (48th, 22:24), and Antonia Monteleone (56th, 22:38).

The Amherst junior varsity competed in the 18-team open race at Kenston, finishing a close second to the host Bombers by a score of 56-60.

Rachel Williams (third, 22:16) and Kaylee Haff (fourth, 22:20) were the leaders for the JV. Cassidy Hill (13th, 23:24) also ran well for the Comets, with Emily Hughes (17th, 23:45) and Emma Kelley (21st, 24:01) also scoring.

They were followed in the JV race by Marissa Anaya (25th, 24:08), Karsen Bresnahan (40th, 24:52), Courtney Cogdell (47th, 25:09), Emma Sekerak (49th, 25:10), Gabriela Giannuzzi (58th, 25:32), Liah Miller (64th, 25:43), Elizabeth Hughes (66th 25:46), Molly Parker (70th, 25:50), Noelle McNatt (73rd, 25:52), Ally Garcia (75th, 25:54), Sophia Volak (77th, 25:55), Hannah Farley (83rd, 26:07), Veronica Janosik (102nd,27:23), Mariana Gilles (105th, 27:29), Hannah Hendrix (110th, 27:37), Emily Hollingsworth (111th, 27:50), Robyn Ruffner (114th, 28:01), Rain Wales (118th, 28:14), Erin McGuire (125th, 28:36), Katlyn Kovach (126th, 28:38), Aliyah Vidovich (136th, 30:35), Hannah Jones (144th, 32:06), Kasey Haney (148th, 33:14), and Emily McGuire (152nd, 34:35).

The girls now have a record of 22-4, and will compete again this Saturday in the Brecksville Invitational.
