Amherst sophomore Josh Hill had an incredible showing at the OHSAA state cross country meet Saturday in Hebron. He bested his previous record by a whopping 28 seconds, crossing the finish line with an outstanding time of 15:50.8. His efforts earned him 26th place in the meet. He ran a smart, progressive race, going through the first mile in 72nd place (4:59), then moving through the pack to 34th place (10:08) at the end of the second mile. Hill picked off another eight runners in the final portion. For the record, 15:50.8 is the second-fastest cross country time ever ran by an Amherst Comet. Hill missed the school record by only three seconds.
