The 11U Amherst Panthers punched their ticket to the Hot Stove state semifinals with three impressive wins over the last week. In the 13-2 win over Medina, Anderson Bingham, Grant Dobo, Jeremy Gregory, and Ethan Denman all had multiple hits. Dobo and Chase Mayer combined to give up only three hits on the day as well. The next matchup with Midview found the Panthers on the winning end of a 12-7 score. The entire Panthers team contributed both at the plate and in the field to hand Midview its first loss in more than 40 games. Finally, to clinch one of the regional championships, the Panthers shut out North Ridgeville 10-0. Dobo and Gregory combined to throw a three-hitter on the mound. At the plate, Martin Polonkay, Mayer, and Dobo each had two hits while Devin Pritt had a big two-run single and Aiden Standen drove in the game winner. Next stop for the Panthers is the Hot Stove state tournament semifinals Saturday in Alliance.
