CROSS COUNTRY: Hill leads Comets to 3rd in SWC

Josh Hill won the Southwestern Conference cross country championship race Saturday at Lorain County Community College, crossing the line with a time of 16:45. Runners sloughed through mud, sometimes splashing through 10-inch-deep water. Earning 2nd Team All-SWC was senior captain Devin Baumgartner, who finished in 14th place with a time of 18:05. He was followed by Ethan Barnes (18:27, 19th place), Matthew Kirsch (18:35, 22nd place), Gabe DelValle (18:35, 22nd place), Cael Walker (18:35, 25th place), and Jacob Raesler (18:36, 26th place). The varsity team placed third out of 10 teams, missing the top spot by just five points.

The boys placed fourth out of 10 teams in the open race. Mario Benjamin led the way with a second place finish and a time of 19:11. Close behind were Sebastian Pecora with a (19:17, third place), Isaac Davis (20:03, 23rd place), Nicholas Glahn (20:25, 38th place), and Caleb Cabrerra (20:48, 53rd place).
