The Amherst Junior High School cross country team competed in near-perfect running conditions Saturday at the Vermilion Invitational.
Jeff Keiffer led the boys and finished in 18th place out of 89 runners. Joseph Miller, Liam Taliano, Owen Davis, and Jeff Rangel also scored for the Comets. Evan Draga had the biggest improvement for the boys, dropping a minute and a half from his previous best time.
Every girl on the team ran a personal best time. Morgan Kessler had the biggest improvement of the day, dropping more than three minutes from her previous time. Catherine Turner finished sixth of 79 runners and Aurora Wilson placed 10th. Ella Baker, Natalie Raesler, and Hailey Counts also scored for the girls.
