• A 2-2 draw against Olmsted Falls left the Comets tied with the Bulldogs for first place in the Southwestern Conference.
Miracle saves by Bulldogs keeper Mackenzie Simon and Amherst goalie Ainsley Steele kept the score nil at the half.
That changed three minutes into the second half when Anna Dudziak played in Lexy Alston for a Comets goal. After a long back-and-forth, Olmsted Falls’ Jordan Fusco scored on a long kick to tie.
Elley Vorhees fed Alston for her second goal of the night with 5:39 left and Amherst led 2-1. That advantage didn’t last long — within two minutes, a Falls free kick evened the score.
Simon ended with 12 saves and Steele had nine.
• Olmsted Falls delivered a tough 2-1 defeat in Southwestern Conference play.
The Comets got on the board first in the eighth minute when junior Ethan London volleyed a ball from the top of the box into the back of the net.
However, two minutes later the game was turned on its head when senior Bradley Kirsch drew a red card while stopping a scoring threat. Amherst battled hard with 10 men and managed four to five good chances but was unable to convert.
The Bulldogs scored twice in the first half to take a 2-1 lead into halftime, keeping it until the final whistle.
