Ainsley Steele made five saves for her fifth straight shutout on Sept. 5 as the Comets girls soccer squad defeated Berea-Midpark 3-0. Anna Dudziak, working on a pass from Olivia Lopez, put Amherst on the scoreboard 31 minutes in. The Comets went into the locker room up 1-0 at the half after outshooting the Titans 9-3. Teaming up with Lexy Alston, Elley Vorhees scored seven minutes into the second half. Juliet Seng played in Leah Drost to beat the Berea-Midpark keeper on the far post for the final. The victory bumped the Comets to 4-1 overall, 4-0 in the Southwestern Conference, where they are tied for first place.
