Downtown Amherst was full to overflowing Saturday night for the annual Dancing on Main Street party. Perfectly blue skies greeted festival-goers in the afternoon hours and a light breeze kept the evening hours pleasant. It was a perfect way to grab a drink or three and enjoy the sounds of bands such as Less Than 88, Men of Steele, The JAGG, Half Naked Monkeys, and Dan Swift & Friends. Organizers anticipate upward of 8,000 visitors each year to the event, which is sponsored by Main Street Amherst. There was also food, cornhole, face-painting, and kids activities. Dancing on Main Street is typically the best sales day of the year for the city’s downtown taverns.
