The first Amherst Comedy Night Light Up Amherst Fundraiser will be held at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Amherst Cinema on Church Street.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Amherst native and funny-guy Bob Slatt will be master of ceremonies. Comedians Bill Squire and Tom Foss will perform.
Web designer by day and stand up comedian by night, Slatt is a 1993 Amherst graduate and resident. He has appeared at the Cleveland Improv as well as the Funny Stop Comedy Club. Squire is well known as one of the co-hosts of “The Alan Cox Show” on 100.7FM WMMS. He has his own comedy album as well as YouTube channel and is a regular at local comedy venues. Foss, originally from this area, has family ties in Amherst too — he spends most of the year traveling the globe performing comedy shows oversees for the military including in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Greenland. When he’s not entertaining our troops, he keeps his feet on the ground as a regular at the famous Hollywood Comedy Store, Improv’s, and Funnybones.
Tickets are $30 per person. Admission includes one drink ticket, one ticket for popcorn, and an evening of laughter. There will also be pay-to-play games, a 50-50 drawing, and more. All ticket sales support a lighting project to help illuminate downtown Amherst, bring energy to the downtown area, and support local businesses and organizations.
