Carsmedics moves to town

Tina and Andy Kowalewski are owners of Carsmedics, a recently-opened collision repair shop in Amherst.

A family-owned collision repair center has moved to Amherst.

Andy and Tina Kowalewski, owners of Carsmedics, relocated their six-year-old business in May from North Olmsted to 180 Millstone Ln.

Tina said they had to find a new location because they rapidly outgrew the building they were in.

The owners chose Amherst because they noticed a large number of insurance companies in the area sending customers to North Olmsted for repairs. They also fell in love with the community.

“Ever since we got here, we just felt like we belonged,” Tina said.

Carmedics repairs cars that have been in crashes and has a fast-track repair for cars with minor damage such as scratches, dents, and painting.

“It’s a one-stop shop,” Andy said. “No job is too big or too small.”

The business has a team of workers that focuses on fast-track repairs and the work is expected to be completed in a day or two.

Andy said he likes to disassemble the damaged section of the car to complete repairs and make it look like it did before the crash.

The repair shop doesn’t fix just ordinary cars.

Andy has worked on cars for 30 years and has a special place for classic and exotic cars.

“I love old muscle cars,” he said.

Seventy percent of the Kowalewskis’ business is European cars. They have customers who travel from East Cleveland for repairs.

“I like to build customers for life,” Andy said.
