Police reports: Thefts and drug overdoses


• Feb. 22 at 5:03 p.m.: A woman was spotted stealing merchandise from Dollar General on Cooper Foster Park Road. Police are attempting to identify the suspect.

• Feb. 23 at 10:22 a.m.: A woman said her daughter was receiving inappropriate messages on Instagram and filed a harassment complaint.

• Feb. 23 at 11:43 a.m.: Andrew Snyder, 33, of Elyria, was charged with theft and criminal tools. Danny Deichler, 54, of Elyria, was charged with complicity to theft and criminal tools. Both were taken into custody after a report by security workers at Target on Oak Point Road. Snyder was already wanted on two warrants stemming from theft charges.

• Feb. 23 at noon: A 16-year-old Lorain boy was charged with theft after an investigation at Steele High School.

• Feb. 24 at midnight: Norfolk Southern Railroad was charged with blocking a roadway. Police said a stopped train prevented traffic from flowing on Crosse Road for 30 minutes.

• Feb. 24 at 4:16 p.m.: Melissa Scott, 42, of Elyria, was arrested on a warrant for an original charge of theft with no bond.

• Feb. 25 at 2:49 a.m.: Antonio Lopez, 36, of Lorain, was arrested on a contempt of court warrant stemming from a child support issue.

• Feb. 25 at 7:03 p.m.: Kenneth Bonness, 37, of Wakeman, was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments. He was found unresponsive on the bathroom floor at Speedway gas station, Rt. 58. Police gave a dose of naloxone to Bonness, which had no effect. He was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center for treatment.

• Feb. 26 at 4:38 p.m.: Kert Scarvelli, 33, of Sheffield Lake, was arrested on a bench warrant for an original charge of theft.

• Feb. 26 at 10:07 p.m.: A 42-year-old Amherst man admitted to using heroin after he was roused from an overdose. An Amherst 21-year-old gave him two doses of naloxone to restore breathing and consciousness. The 42-year-old was taken to University Hospitals Amherst Health Center for treatment but was not charged.

• Feb. 26 at 11:03 p.m.: A man allegedly stole two bags of shrimp from Giant Eagle on Kresge Drive.

• Feb. 27 at 3:10 p.m.: A suspect appeared to use a quick-change scam to steal money from Subway on Oak Point Road.

• Feb. 29 at 8:02 a.m.: Dustin Gonzalez, 29, of Lorain, was charged with a temporary protection order violation while at Motel 6 on Rt. 58.

• Feb. 29 at noon: Nina Hluszti, 35, of Lorain, was arrested on a warrant for traffic-related offenses.

• Feb. 29 at 10:47 p.m.: Mathew Plaza, 22, of Lorain, was charged with drug possession and drug paraphernalia as well as failure to display license plates and no license plate light. He was stopped on Cooper Foster Park Road.
