Amherst police reports: K-9 searches, missing child, school problems


• Feb. 9, time undisclosed by police: Officers investigated a vandalism complaint at Harris Elementary School on South Lake Street. Several areas were intentionally damaged, according to a report, which did not further specify the type or extent of the damage.

• Feb. 9, time undisclosed by police: A female juvenile was suspected of taking video of another girl in the restroom at Amherst Junior High School. The video was confirmed deleted and the suspect was advised future similar incidents would be addressed with criminal charges.

• Feb. 9 at 9:30 a.m.: K-9 dogs searched Amherst Steele High School while students were in a lockdown exercise. The police dogs alerted to seven lockers, which were searched. No contraband was found.

• Feb. 9 at 11 a.m.: A 16-year-old Amherst boy was charged with seven counts of possession of a controlled substance. A police report said he had prescription pills at Steele High School but no prescription.

• Feb. 9 at 3:47 p.m.: A trailer was reported missing from a shed on Mill Avenue.

• Feb. 11 at 8:04 a.m.: An aggravated menacing complaint was investigated at Amherst Junior High School. A boy allegedly threatened a girl and was addressed similar comments in the future would yield criminal charges.

• Feb. 11 at 7:22 p.m.: Officers investigated a domestic violence complaint involving a 62-year-old woman and her 38-year-old daughter, both of Amherst.

• Feb. 12, time undisclosed by police: Wendy Huddleston, 44, of Elyria, was charged with theft, criminal tools, possession of drug paraphernalia, and open container. She was stopped by police responding to a complaint of a group of people stealing merchandise at Target.

• Feb. 12 at 8:32 a.m.: Michael Lloyd, 29, of Elyria, was served a warrant for burglary through the Lorain police department. He was located and served at Days Inn on Rt. 58.

• Feb. 12 at 8:05 p.m.: An 83-year-old woman was found deceased in a Stonebridge Drive home.

• Feb. 13 at 2:55 a.m.: Darrell Watkins, 20, of Lorain, was arrested on a warrant for contempt of court through the Lorain police department. The original charge was receiving stolen property.

• Feb. 13 at 2:18 p.m.: A Ford F150 slid off Rt. 2, suffering minor damage.

• Feb. 13 at 6:34 p.m.: A 43-year-old man was found lying on a bedroom floor on Crestline Avenue. A police report said it was a suspected overdose. The man was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center.

• Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m.: Kelly Wacker, 41, of Lorain, was charged with theft and criminal tools.

• Feb. 15 at 11:07 a.m.: A missing child out of Chagrin Falls was located on Rt. 58 and returned to her parents.

• Feb. 15 at 2:58 p.m.: Robertito Morales Garcia, 28, of Lorain, was charged with weaving course and no operator’s license.

• Feb. 15 at 3:04 p.m.: Officers investigated a domestic dispute on Cooper Foster Park Road.

• Feb. 15 at 3:39 p.m.: Police were dispatched to Wendy’s on Rt. 58 regarding two juveniles allegedly threatening their mother. Police spoke to one boy about his actions, according to a police report.

• Feb. 16 at 3:01 a.m.: A bag of medication was reported stolen from a vehicle at Speedway on Rt. 58.
