Here’s a welcome surprise: Wounded Amherst police officer J.R. Patacek was back in uniform Tuesday to attend a Sept. 11 ceremony at American Legion Post 118. He received a standing ovation from veterans and city workers assembled at the post. Ptacek said it’s his goal to return to service as soon as his body has recovered. The Lorain County SWAT team member and longtime city patrolman was hospitalized in May after being shot during a standoff in Sheffield Lake. Suspect Martin Robinson, wanted on felony warrants out of Cuyahoga County, was also shot.
