Madison Spataro and Lauren Kachure each had two-run RBIs to put Amherst up 4-0 by the end of the first inning last Wednesday in the district softball finals. If only the Comets had held that lead — instead, fans watched in dismay as Elyria hatched a comeback, tying the score at 4-4 by the sixth inning and walking away with a 6-4 win. The loss ended the Comets’ postseason run.
