SWIMMING: Moore, Walther are top Comets at district

The Amherst boys swimmers placed eighth Saturday at the D1 Northwest District meet with 121 points, finishing behind Lakewood St. Edward.

Nathan Moore was the Comets’ standout swimmer, placing first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 46.92 seconds. He also finished first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.40.

The girls team finished 17th at districts with 44 points, trailing Whitehouse Anthony Wayne and Avon by a mere handful of points.

Olivia Walther had the best placement for the Comets, capturing ninth in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 55.06 seconds.
