SWIMMING: Boys are SWC champions, girls place fourth

Boys swimming

With 361 points, the Comets finished first in the Southwestern Conference championships, far outpacing second place Avon (271) and third place Lakewood (198).

Top three finishes for Amherst included:

• Sam Parker, Max Mlincek, Jake Kiska, and Nathan Moore, first place in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:42.52.

• Nathan Moore, first place in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.67.

• Adam Cook, third place in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.35.

• Jake Kiska, second place in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23:01 seconds.

• Nathan Moore, second place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 49.64.

• Max Mlincek, Michael Rakar, Nathan Moore, and Jake Kiska, first place in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:32.93.

• Sam Parker, third place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 57.66.

• Max Mlincek, first place in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.00.

• Jacob Kelley, third place in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.67.

Girls swimming

The Comets splashed to a fourth place finish in at the Southwestern Conference championships this weekend.

They finished with 181 points behind Avon Lake (304), Avon (238), and Westlake (207.5).

Top three finishes for Amherst included:

• Gabbie Vila, Katlyn Kovach, Shelby Prieto, and Olivia Walther, second place in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:58.26.

• Olivia Walther, second place in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 26.33 seconds.

• Shelby Prieto, third place in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 26.44.

• Shelby Prieto, third place in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.08.

• Olivia Walther, first place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 57.21.

• Shelby Prieto, Brianna Sekerak, Sarah Belak, and Olivia Walther, second place in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:46.94.
