First team All-Southwestern Conference honors went to sophomore Josh Hill and senior Cameron Shawver on Saturday at the SWC championships.
Hill finished third in the pack with a time of 16:34, leading Amherst to place fifth among 10 teams at Lorain County Community College. Shawver was eighth, finishing in 17:07.
Devin Baumgartner was next with a 22nd place finish and a time of 17:49. Junior Andrew Vontell led a three-man trio that placed 40th, 41st, and 42nd to round out the scoring for the meet. He finished in 18:28, Gabe DelValle finished just 0.4 seconds behind him, and Ethan Barnes finished in 18:29. Senior Dru Trifiletti crossed the line in 19:03.
The open race boys were led by freshman Matthew Kirsch, who won by 17 seconds to clock an excellent time of 17:50.
Up next were Tyler Kovach (12th, 18:58), Matt Trame (16th, 19:16), Alex Reyes (24th, 19:32), Pierce Barnes (36th, 19:50), Forest Hampton (78th 20:55), Danny Falencki (108th, 21:56), and Kyle Zgonc (148th, 24:45).
The boys will race again this Saturday at LCCC for the OHSAA district championships.
