Colin O’Connor recorded his second hat trick Saturday in three games, helping to boost the Comets to a 7-2 Senior Night victory over the Elyria Pioneers.

Seniors Max Varouh, Ryan Sturgeon, Jacob Snowden, Michael Rakar, Donny Wearsch, Ian AIllison, Aiden Serrano, Justin Templeton, and Colin O’Connor were all in the starting 11 for Amherst.

It was also an outstanding evening for Ben Biedenbach, who not only had assists on all O’Connor’s goals but was the first to score for the Comets. In the eighth minute, he took as assist from recently-crowned homecoming king Donny Wearsch.

Senior co-captains Jacob Snowden and Ryan Sturgeon also scored goals for the Comets and junior Xavier Potts scored his first career varsity goal.

Junior Ryan Rigsby had a good game in goal, recording 10 saves on the night.

In junior varsity action, Amherst defeated Elyria 5-0.

Five different players scored for the Comets: Mason Hamm, Jonathan Ellis, Camden Gross, Matthew Naelitz, and Will Domain. Austin Becker had four saves for the Amherst JV team.
