BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Hill 4th, Shawver 7th in huge Malone race

Narrowly missing third place, the Comets boys cross country teams had a great day Saturday at the Malone University Invitational.

They placed fourth of 12 teams under the leadership of frontrunners Josh Hill and Cameron Shawver.

Hill placed fourth among the pack of 109 runners and crossed the line in 16:39. Shawver had a season best time of 17:01 and placed seventh.

Following were Devin Baumgartner (25th, 17:40), Matthew Kirsch (38th, 18:01), Andrew Vontell (58th, 18:30.6), Gabe DelValle (61st, 18:38), and Ethan Barnes (62nd, 18:38) to round out the top seven.

Dru Trifiletti (8th, 18:47) and Alex Reyes (15th, 19:02) were the top finishers for the team in the open race of 220 runners.

The boys will compete again this Saturday at the Vermilion Invitational.
