A robotics club will launch this fall at South Amherst Middle School.

With sponsorship funding via the Nordson Corporation Foundation, students will be able to to study and design robots, learning about engineering, coding, and computer science concepts. In the spring, they’ll apply that knowledge at robotics competitions.

“We have a talented group of young men and women that deserve the opportunity to further their knowledge of robotics through fun and competition,” said SAMS principal Cara Gomez.

She thanked eighth-grader Spencer Deremer, who shared a letter with Nordson that helped get the funding needed to start the club.

Project Lead the Way teacher Chuck Latto will guide students in the program’s inaugural year.
