Comets swimmers dominate Lakewood Rangers

The Comets glided past Lakewood Friday in a boys and girls swim meet.

Amherst earned 13 first place finishes. The boys won by 40 points and the girls 22.

Senior Allie Thorson took the top spot in the 100-yard butterfly and senior Heather Wigton earned first place with a time of 58.69 in the 100-yard freestyle.

Olivia Walther and Annabelle Saultz also took first in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke.

Sophomores Jake Kiska and Nathan Moore dominated their competition in the 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, and 100-yard freestyle.

Amherst’s Matthew Pecze finished with a time of 58.99 in the 100-yard backstroke for a first place finish. Senior David Burgett took first in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The Comets took first place in the girls 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:48.75, boys 200-yard medley, 200-yard freestyle, and 400-yard freestyle relays.
