The Amherst Junior High School cross country teams finished their season Saturday at the Southwestern Conference championships.
For the girls, seventh-grader Kaylee Haff improved her best time by five seconds and earned first team All-SWC, finishing eighth out of 157 runners.
Other scorers for the girls were Victoria Bailey, Marissa Anaya, Megan Sayre, and Hannah Aschemeier. Holly Eliopoulos had the biggest improvement of the day, dropping 47 seconds from her previous time. The girls placed fifth of 10 teams, showing tremendous improvement from their last-place finish at the season-opening SWC Preview.
Matthew Kirsch continued his streak of first-place finishes and became the Southwestern Conference champion.
Ethan Barnes also earned first-team All-SWC by finishing eighth of 188 runners. Ethan London (11th place) and Gabe DelValle (12th place) earned second team All-SWC.
Caleb Stempowski improved his time by another seven seconds and also scored for the Comets. Lucas Johnson had the biggest improvement for the boys, dropping 42 seconds from his previous best.
The boys took second place in the conference out of 10 teams.
