Foundation president supports modern school

To the editor:

As the Amherst Schools Education Foundation president, I whole-heartedly support and endorse Issue 21 on the Nov. 8 ballot.

Our mission at ASEF is to provide staff with the tools they need to maintain excellence in our schools and prepare our graduates for what lies ahead. I can also vouch for the schools’ good work thus far as a parent of two Amherst graduates. Both of my children were well-prepared for college and they continue to do well in school today.

Issue 21 will build upon the district’s success and propel our community into the future as an attractive home for young families. Without raising taxes, Issue 21 replaces our aging, ill-equipped elementary buildings with one modern elementary school for preschool through third grade and makes HVAC upgrades at Nord Middle School and Steele High School. In one fell swoop, Issue 21 provides an opportunity to drastically improve our students’ learning environment and save hundreds of thousands of dollars on repairs, ensuring stability for high quality programs for years to come.

Let’s continue to support the good work of the Amherst Schools. Vote for Issue 21 on Nov. 8.
