Powers outdated, costly to repair

To the editor:

Issue 21 does not raise taxes. Powers Elementary, where my child attends, is outdated and in need of costly repairs. Powers is to the point that our wonderful custodians are struggling to find replacement parts for necessary repairs because those parts are hard to find.

Our children deserve a better learning environment, and our teachers deserve better working conditions. Issue 21 will help because the state will pay 45 percent of the cost of the project to build a new prekindergarten through third grade school and update the HVAC systems at Nord Middle School and Steele High School. Our school buildings have done a wonderful job for our community for so very long but the time has come to make some changes.

Issue 21 is good for our children and our community.
