Former South Amherst mayor turns 100



A 100th birthday celebration for Larry Knoble Sr. was held July 7 at Rock of Ages, Marblehead, Ohio.

Approximately 65 family members attended the party hosted by his children including his 90-year-old brother, Frances (Fritz), and his 91-year-old sister-in-law, Mary Knoble.

He resided from 1940 until 2016 in South Amherst, served on village council and was mayor from 1969 to 1975.

Knoble is a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion. He was also a parishioner of Blessed Virgin Mary Church in South Amherst.

His children include Grace (Ron) Bousek, Larry Jr. (Norma), Jim (Diane), Dan (Susan), and David (Robin). He has 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He presently resides in Arizona with his son, David and wife Robin.
