Staff Report

Auditions for “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, July 17 and Tuesday, July 18 at the Workshop Players Theatre-in-the-Round, 44820 Middle Ridge Rd., Amherst Township.

Callbacks, if necessary, will be from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, July 20.

No appointments are necessary for the open call auditions. Those trying out for parts need to attend just one evening.

The directors are seeking a high-energy, charismatic, and versatile ensemble of six adults to bring life, personality, and heart to Charlie Brown, Lucy Van Pelt, Sally Brown, Linus Van Pelt, Schroeder, and Snoopy.

Workshop Players Theatre-in-the-Round is committed to nontraditional casting. Except in cases where race, gender, age, or disability is essential to the show, all roles will be cast on the basis of talent.

Be sure to prepare 16-32 bars of a song in the style of the show, with sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided (no CDs or acapella auditions). Theatrical resumes and headshots are appreciated, but not required.

Based on the comic strip “Peanuts” by Charles Schulz, the production will be directed by Jarred Nichols with musical direction by Gregory Paparizos. The technical director is Jim Nichols and production manager is Dave Stacko.

Highlighted by catchy songs, funny dialogue, and a lot of heart, “Charlie Brown” will open the community theater company’s 70th season.

Rehearsals will begin on or about Sunday, July 23 and will typically run Monday through Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons based on cast availability. Not all cast members will be called at every rehearsal.

Take a complete list of schedule conflicts from July 23 through Sept. 24. No conflicts will be accepted for any performance dates or during tech week. Preliminary vocal rehearsals may be held in the Independence, Ohio, area.

Performances will be on Sept. 7, 8, 9, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, and 24.
