A fruit concoction called “Tropical Life” won Best Overall Drink at the Zero-Proof Mix-Off, held Dec. 1 at Lorain County Community College.

Stirred up by health science students from the Lorain County JVS, who served as volunteers for LIFE: A Dementia Friendly Foundation, the drink was created by Carole Klinger, the co-founder of LIFE.

Try it yourself:

In a punch bowl, mix 64 ounces of Welch’s tropical fruit drink, one quart of rainbow sorbet, and 7-Up to taste along with fresh or frozen tropical fruit to float (pineapple, strawberries, cherries, your choice). Serve with or without ice. The recipe makes eight drinks.

Sponsored by the Lorain County General Health District, the annual mix-off is centered on fun without alcohol and highlights the dangers of drunk driving.

The JVS has taken part in the event for several years. The school promotes safe driving throughout the entire year.
