Kaylani Othman of North Ridgeville and Madison Stanley of Firelands represented the Lorain County JVS recently at the Educators Rising national conference at Boston University.

They qualified for the national competition, held June 24-27, by placing in the top five in their respective categories this March at the Ohio state conference. Othman and Stanley are the first-ever JVS students to go to nationals.

Both placed third in their education events.

Othman competed in Lesson Planning and Delivery in the Arts, writing a lesson plan in fifth grade music. She then taught the lesson while being filmed.

Stanley competed in Public Speaking, focusing on concrete solutions to the problems affecting students living in poverty.
