Jacob Engle of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has been named the Milan Post’s 2015 Trooper of the Year.
The award recognizes outstanding service at the post, which, though located in Erie County, covers highways as far east Amherst. Engle, 29, of Sandusky, has provided the News-Times with insightful information on crashes and other incidents this past year.
Fellow officers stationed at the post chose Engle for the Trooper of the Year honor based on his leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers, and the public.
He is now in contention for the district and state Trooper of the Year awards to be announced at a later date.
Engle joined the Patrol in 2011 and has continuously served at the Milan Post. Originally from Elmore and a 2004 graduate of Woodmore High School, he attended Lourdes University.
