Comet Corner counter preserved at church

A piece of the former Comet Corner is staying local, even though the Steele High School spirit store closed this summer for good. The PTO-run store faced hardship after laws made selling most snack food and soda illegal during the school day. Now its counter has been purchased by Joel Smith, pastor of the Family Fellowship Foursquare Church in Amherst. It will be used as a welcome desk for those attending worship services, said congregant and school board member Bob Kamnikar.
