Police Blotters for March 3
Feb. 12, 2:50 a.m.: Officer Jacob Perez was on patrol when he observed the driver of a green Ford Mustang, Shawn Trifiletti, fail to make a complete stop at the intersection of Church Street and Tenney Avenue. The officer also observed him weaving in and out of his lane of travel.
While speaking with Trifiletti, the officer reported he saw signs Trifiletti was intoxicated. After further investigation, Trifiletti was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, having a blood alcohol count of more than .017 percent, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, weaving the course and a stop sign violation.
Feb. 12, 9:38 p.m.: Officer Michael Taliano initiated a traffic stop at Motel 6, 704 N. Leavitt Rd., for an unknown violation.
The driver, identified as Ronald Sorrells, was found to be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper display of plates.
Feb. 12, 11:25 p.m.: Officer Jacob Perez pulled in to the Dairy Mart, 167 Cleveland Ave.
While there, he saw a red Ford Freestyle with expired plates. The driver, Michael Guggenbiller, was in line at the front counter waiting to check out with the cashier.
As Perez entered the store, he detected a strong odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from Guggenbiller. When Perez asked Guggenbiller if he consumed any intoxicating beverages that evening, he stated "two." Guggenbiller's driver's license was also suspended.
He was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, having a blood alcohol count more than the .08 percent state legal limit, driving under suspension and having expired plates.
Feb. 13, 2:30 a.m.: Officer Devin Small was traveling westbound on Cooper Foster Park Road when he observed a gray Jeep Liberty too close to his back bumper. Moments later, officer Michael Taliano pulled up behind the sport utility vehicle and proceeded to conduct a registration check.
While this was going on, Small also observed the vehicle, driven by Gregory Moore, cross over the double yellow line numerous times, along with weaving from side to side within its westbound lane of travel.
Taliano initiated a traffic stop in the parking lot of Burger King, 1900 Cooper Foster Park Rd., in Lorain.
After an investigation Moore was placed in handcuffs and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, driving under suspension, state refusal, weaving the course, failure to drive within marked lanes and having an open container.
Moore's bond was set at $7,450 personal recognizance bond.
Feb. 13, 2:36 a.m.: Officer Jacob Perez was traveling eastbound on Tenney Avenue, near the intersection of Church Street. He saw a male, later identified as Markus Farlow, stumbling down the sidewalk on Church Street toward Quesadillas, located at 249 Church St.
Perez noticed Farlow kept looking over his shoulder in the officer's direction as he proceeded east on Tenney Avenue. Perez then turned in to city parking lot number 3 and saw Farlow was also heading in that direction. According to a police report, when Farlow noticed Perez driving through the parking lot, he immediately stopped and stood still.
Making sure he was not going to get in to his vehicle and drive away, Perez went around the block. As he entered the parking lot a second time, he observed Farlow urinating on the ground next to a Chevrolet Blazer. He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated.
Feb. 13, 10:15 p.m.: Sergeant Mark Cawthon, along with officers Devin Small and Michael Taliano were dispatched to the area of Park Avenue and Church Street regarding an intoxicated male who threatened to kill a husband and wife as they were attempting to place their baby in their vehicle.
As officers were responding to the scene, dispatch advised them the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Joshua Gfell, along with several other males, fled the area in a red Ford Taurus.
Minutes later, Taliano located the vehicle traveling on Elyria Avenue and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, identified as 21-year-old Jason Jarrell, had a suspended driver's license. While Taliano was talking with him, Cawthon and Small searched the rest of the vehicle and located drugs and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Gfell was placed in handcuffs and charged with assault, two counts of aggravated menacing, obstructing official business, carrying a concealed weapon, disturbing the peace and disorderly conduct persisting.
Jarrell was also arrested and charged with driving under suspension, while 22-year-old Kyle Vans -- who owns the vehicle -- was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and wrongful entrustment.
Another passenger in the car, identified as 22-year-old Keith Martin was also arrested and charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated.
Feb. 15, 3:37 p.m.: While on patrol, officer Joshua McCoy observed a green Chevrolet Blazer cross over the yellow center dividing line numerous times while traveling southbound on Leavitt Road near Walnut Drive.
Due to the marked lanes violation, McCoy initiated a traffic stop on the sport utility vehicle, which was driven by Sandra Danicki. She was found to be in possession of a drug abuse instrument and narcotics.
Danicki was arrested and charged with drug abuse, possession of drug abuse instruments and conveyance in to a detention facility.
She was transported to the Lorain County Jail.
Feb. 17, 2:46 a.m.: Officer Jacob Perez and sergeant Mark Cawthon responded to the 1000 block of North Main Street in reference to a vehicle stuck in the snow.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the driver, identified as 21-year-old Kenneth J. Glowacki. A check through Perez's in-car computer revealed Glowacki had an active warrant through the Elyria post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol for OVI.
Once he was placed in handcuffs and Perez additionally charged him with OVI, failure to control and driving under suspension, he was then transported to the Lorain County Jail.
