Solutions needed, not promises
To the editor:
President Obama spoke in Elyria, Ohio on Friday, Jan. 22. It seemed as though he was on the campaign trail once more. Mr. President, we do not need campaign speeches -- we need real solutions coming from Washington allowing for job creation and stable financial markets. We need tax and spending cuts -- not a 'stimulus' slush fund. We need healthcare reform to lower costs by enacting torte reform, medical saving accounts, and portability of insurance. We do not need to add to the size of government, and we do not need to make drastic cuts in Medicare only to hurt our elderly. We do not need to tax American businesses, like Invacare, out of this country. A healthcare bill should not be 3,000 pages. We need to see healthcare negotiations live on C-Span.
We do not need backroom deals. We need transparency and accountability in government -- something you pledged and have yet to deliver to We the People. We need a strong national defense working to ensure that no more terrorists board American planes. We do not need to hold terrorist trials in civilian courts.
The election of Republican Scott Brown to a Massachusetts Senate seat sends a clear message to our President and his administration to slow down and consider real reforms -- not reforms resulting in control of the private sector and everyone's lives. When government gets out of the way of the people, economic prosperity flourishes.
Mr. Obama stated that the same anger that got him elected, whisked Scott Brown into office. Quite the opposite. America's rejection of both Mr. Obama's failed policies and the control he is attempting to gain over the American economy, elected Sen. Brown.
We the People have spoken and will continue to do so in every election until this radical agenda, wrongfully reshaping America, is rectified.
