Comet Watch for March 3

The Amherst Junior High School seventh grade girls basketball team lost to Avon Lake on Wednesday, Feb. 17, by a score of 31-29.

Leading the offensive charge for the Lady Comets were Abby Turnwald with eight points, Lauren Sturgeon with five, Zoe Papary with four, while Natalia Joseph and Megan Overman both had three points. Olivia Henderson, Jessica Delgado and Toni Elliott each had two points a piece.

Good defense came from Turnwald, Sturgeon, Henderson, Overman and Elliott.

The team's regular season record now stands at 5-4.

The team defeated Berea Roehm on Thursday, Feb. 18 by a score of 42-11.

Leading the offensive charge for the Lady Comets were Olivia Henderson with seven points, as well as Basinski, Keron, Joseph, Sturgeon, Ritter, Turnwald, Delgado, Papay and Overman.

Good defensive skills came from the entire team. The team finished the regular season with a 6-4 record.

The Lady Comets eighth grade basketball team defeated the Avon Lake Shoregals on Wednesday, Feb. 17, by a score of 24-17.

Leading the offensive charge for the team were Onyx Lopez with eight points, while Sydney Click had five, Riley Schenk with 4, and Sam Matus had three. Mallory Sliman, Breanna Crapo, and Victoria Basinski each had two points a piece.

Playing good defense were Emily Plemons, Shelby Kopp, Macy Szucs, and Alexis Arendt.

The eighth grade girls basketball team lost to Midpark Ford on Thursday, Feb. 18 by a score of 34-30. The team tied the game up with 26 seconds left before the final buzzer, but could not make enough plays to seal the victory.
