Spontik, Pittak wed at St. Joseph

Kelli Marie Spontik and Derek Matthew Pittak were united in marriage on May 30, 2009 in St. Joseph Church in Amherst. A family friend, the Rev. Len Bacik of St. Bartholomew Church in Middleburg Heights officiated the ceremony. A reception was held at Elyria Country Club. The couple honeymooned in Oahu and Maui, Hawaii.

Parents of the bride are Dave and Sheila Spontik of Lorain and parents of the groom are Brenda and Mike Sadowski of Amherst and Mike Pittak of Lorain.

Karla Spontik of Amherst and sister of the bride, and Lauren Molnar of Amherst and friend of the bride, served as maids of honor. Alison McCue of Akron, Heather Kurena of Beloit, Ohio, and Kristen O'Bryan of Port Orange, Fla., all friends of the bride, served as brides maids. Macy Koscho and Leah Koscho, nieces of the bride served as flower girls.

Mike Pittak of Lorain and brother of the groom and Nick Fernandez of Amherst and friend of the groom served as best men. Derek Hojohn of Washington, D.C. and friend of the groom, Joey Pittak of Indianapolis, brother of the groom and Jake Kucbel, friend of the groom served as groomsmen. Noah Koscho, nephew of the bride served as ring bearer. John Lazar of Columbus, cousin of the groom and Brian Kucbel of Amherst, friend of the groom served as ushers.

Chris Pittak, uncle of the groom, Joe Lazar, cousin of the groom, Judy Trifilette, friend of the bride and Paul Sadowski, uncle of the groom served as readers. Katie Schneider of Amherst was the vocalist.

The bride graduated with honors from Mercy College of Northwest Ohio with a bachelor of science in nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse in the Critical Intensive Care Unit at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

The groom graduated from Cleveland State University with a bachelor of arts in political science and is currently pursuing a master of science in accounting. He is employed as a financial analyst with The Defense Finance and Accounting Service.

Helen Peters, a family friend of the groom, traveled from Malaysia to attend the ceremony, along with family and friends from Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina and Washington, D.C.

The couple now reside in Kettering, Ohio.
