Amherst has Facebook group

To the editor:

Thousands of Amherst residents are members of the social networking website Facebook, and it's a great resource for sharing thoughts and information about our city. That's why I'm so excited to announce that Amherst now has its own Facebook group that residents can view on the web at AmherstFacebook.com.

I hope residents will visit the Amherst Facebook group and see the events, photos and links their neighbors are sharing. More than a thousand Amherst residents have already joined, and you do not need to sign up for a Facebook account to view what other people are posting on the page.

Using modern technology to help the people of Amherst connect with each other is something I'm very passionate about. Regardless of their ages, I hope they will join their Amherst neighbors on AmherstFacebook.com today. We're looking forward to seeing everyone online.
