Can you spell c-o-n-g-r-a-t-u-l-a-t-i-o-n-s?

Matthew Cecil, a seventh grader at Amherst Junior High School, was crowned the West Divisional Spelling Bee champion on Friday. Michael Prieto -- also in seventh grade at the junior high school -- was the runner-up.

Allison Syrowski, Andrew Biery, Arianna Venson, Dave Frankart and Jeremy Parson were also named the top 16 spellers at the bee. They are joined by Forrest Boyd from Sailorway Middle School in Vermilion, Heidi Fredrickson and Jimmy Chervenak from Midview High School, Joshua Carandang from St. Peter's School in Lorain, Kaelyn Brown, Mark Kraslenko and Myhkalah Robinson from Clearview Durling Middle School, Mikayla Oritz from The Arts Academy in Lorain and Paul Kardar from Open Door Christian School in Elyria.
