Police Blotters for Feb. 17

Jan. 24, 2:30 p.m.: Officers Troy Donaldson, Zack Horning and Josh McCoy were dispatched to Marion L. Steele High School regarding a male with an active warrant.

An off duty police officer saw Raul Lorenzana seated at a table located next to the gym. After the warrant was confirmed through dispatch, the officers were able to take Lorenzana into custody without incident. He was transported to the Lorain County Jail and held without bond.

Jan. 27: Officer Harold White was traveling northbound on Leavitt Road near the eastbound entrance ramp to Rt. 2 when he saw a tan Ford Windstar with an expired registration sticker.

White then proceeded to check the registration through LEADS, and learned the license plate had expired on May 16, 2009. John Charlton was cited for having expired license plates,

Jan. 28, 11:43 p.m.: Officer Michael Taliano initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for an unknown violation on Leavitt Road near Cooper Foster Park Road. The driver, identified as Latasha Kimbro, was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. She was charged with having drug paraphernalia and loud excessive music.

Jan. 29, 1:28 a.m.: Officer Devin Small pulled over a vehicle driven by Ciera Williams on Cooper Foster Park Road for an unknown violation.

A check through LEADS revealed Williams had an active warrant through the Rocky River Police Department for contempt of court on an original charge of speeding. She was taken in to custody without incident. Williams was later transferred in to the custody of a Rocky River police officer in Elyria.

Jan. 29, 2:32 a.m.: Officers Devin Small and Jacob Perez responded to Rt. 2 westbound regarding a possible intoxicated driver. The complainant advised dispatch the vehicle was an older white Chevrolet Blazer and the vehicle was traveling all over the roadway.

Small located the vehicle driven by Darren Buchanan just west of the North Lake Street overpass and initiated a traffic stop.

Sergeant Mark Cawthon arrived as well and proceeded to help the two officers with their investigation. They found marijuana in the vehicle which was packaged for sale.

Buchanan was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, weaving, and failure to drive within marked lanes.

Jan. 29, 11:59 p.m.: Officer Michael Taliano was conducting an investigation on a vehicle parked in the Motel 6 parking lot, 704 N. Leavitt Rd., for expired plates.

The driver, identified as 19-year-old Shacara Payne, also had a suspended driver's license and exhibited signs of being intoxicated. Payne ran from the officer and ignored all orders to stop, running into room #139.

A man in the room identified as Jesus Rivera was wanted on an active warrant through the Lorain County Sheriff's Department for contempt of court on an original charge of having drug paraphernalia.

Rivera was taken in to custody without incident and later released to a sheriff's deputy. He was later taken in to custody without incident and later released to a sheriff's deputy.

Payne was also arrested and charged with obstructing official business and underage consumption.

Jan. 30, 2:36 a.m.: Officer Devin Small observed a taupe Dodge Caravan accelerate at a high rate of speed westbound on Middle Ridge Road.

When the officer caught up with the vehicle, now traveling northbound on Leavitt Road, Small observed the minivan, driven by Jaimee Teague, weave from side to side within in its lane of travel, as well as cross over the double yellow line several times.

Small then initiated a traffic stop near Spruce Tree Drive. Teague was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, having a blood alcohol level of 0.170 percent, open container, weaving the course, and failure to travel within marked lanes.

She was released on a $2,450 personal recognizance bond.

Jan. 30, 4:04 a.m.: Officer Michael Taliano was dispatched to the Blue Sky Restaurant, 917 N. Leavitt Rd., regarding a female who left the establishment without paying her bill.

The woman, identified as Angela Geiger, was located crossing Cooper Foster Park Road. A check through LEADS revealed she had an active warrant through the Lorain County Sheriff's Department for contempt of court.

Geiger was taken in to custody without incident. She was charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated and walking the highways while intoxicated. Geiger was later released to a sheriff's deputy.

Jan. 30, 2:26 p.m.: Officer Jacob Perez initiated a traffic stop on a tan Jeep Cherokee on Park Avenue, just east of Henry Street for a faulty exhaust violation.

After obtaining identification from a male passenger, identified as Manuel Lafarga, he had dispatch run a warrant check through LEADS. It was learned Lafarga had an active warrant through the North Olmsted Police Department for not showing up to court on the original charge of failure to reinstate.

After the warrant was confirmed, Lafarga was taken in to custody without incident and later turned over to a North Olmsted police officer in Elyria.

Jan. 30, 8:53 p.m.: Officer Zack Horning was dispatched to a residence on Valley Drive regarding a telephone harassment complaint. The homeowner stated numerous individuals, who were identifying themselves as police officers, have been calling him asking for money.

According to the police report, the man said at first, the callers requested money, but had changed to demanding money. The callers threatened to arrest him if he did not give them an unspecified amount of money. The incident is still currently under investigation.
