Let's stomp

Stomper -- the Lake Erie Crushers mascot -- kicked off his reading club in style with an assembly at the Nord Middle School gymnasium on Wednesday. To participate, students in fifth and sixth grades are expected to read three books with a minimum of 150 pages during the month. They will have to document the book title, author, number of pages and the date they completed reading the book on a log sheet which can be downloaded from the school's website, www.amherst.k12.oh.us. The students who complete the challenge will be treated to a Crushers baseball game on Wednesday, May 26. (Photo by John Lasko)
